5.1 – Leadership and Commitment

5.1.1 General

Top management shall demonstrate leadership and commitment by:

Ensuring quality policy and objectives are established.

Integrating QMS requirements into business processes.

Promoting process approach and risk-based thinking.

Ensuring necessary resources are available.

Engaging, supporting, and directing people.

Promoting continual improvement.

Supporting other management roles to demonstrate their leadership.

5.1.2 Customer Focus

Top management shall ensure:

Customer requirements are determined, understood, and consistently met.

Risks and opportunities that can affect product conformity are addressed.

Focus on enhancing customer satisfaction.

5.2 – Policy

5.2.1 Establishing the Quality Policy

Top management shall establish, implement, and maintain a quality policy that:

Is appropriate to the purpose and context of the organization.

Provides a framework for quality objectives.

Includes commitment to satisfy requirements and continual improvement.


5.2.2 Communicating the Quality Policy

The policy shall be documented, communicated, understood, and applied within the organization.

Available to relevant interested parties.

5.3 – Organizational Roles, Responsibilities, and Authorities

Top management shall ensure:

Responsibilities and authorities for relevant roles are assigned, communicated, and understood.

One member of management has responsibility and authority for ensuring QMS requirements are met, reporting on performance, and promoting customer focus.

5.1: Top management (CEO, Plant Head, Directors) must actively lead the QMS, not just delegate.
