Clause 7 of IATF 16949:2016 covers the resources and support needed to make the Quality Management System (QMS) effective.

7.2 – Competence

Ensure people are competent based on education, training, skills, and experience.

Provide training and evaluate effectiveness.

Retain documented evidence of competence.

7.3 – Awareness

Employees must be aware of:

The quality policy.

Relevant quality objectives.

Their role in QMS and contribution to quality.

Implications of not conforming to QMS requirements.

7.4 – Communication

The organization shall determine:

What to communicate.

When to communicate.

With whom to communicate.

How to communicate (meetings, boards, digital systems).

7.5 – Documented Information

7.5.1 General: QMS must include documented information required by the standard.

7.5.2 Creating & Updating: Proper identification, format, approval, and review of documents.

7.5.3 Control of Documented Information: Ensure documents are available where needed, controlled, updated, and protected.
